Top Tips for Travelling with Baby
As part of our Holiday SOS series, in this week’s blog we’re offering top tips for travelling with baby!
Which Pushchair to Take?
The iCandy Lime will prove its worth as a great travel companion whatever age your child may be. If your baby is using the spacious carrycot then this will also double up as their holiday travel cot thanks to its suitability for overnight sleeping. Most airlines have an allowance of two pieces of free hold luggage for baby equipment so by eliminating the need for a travel cot, you have the option to bring a pushchair and car seat instead. Don’t forget to bring your car seat adaptors!
If your baby is using the seat unit then you can really make the most of the Lime’s Total Fold credentials which means it folds quickly and easily with the seat unit and bumper bar still attached. With one of the fastest and most compact folds available, it offers the perfect solution for the airport or nipping on the bus to the local market. The Lime also has the added benefit of an integrated ride-on board so if you have a toddler too then they can simply hop on for a ride when they’re feeling tired of sight-seeing.
Don’t forget the iCandy universal pushchair travel bag to keep your pushchair safe whist in transit.
In-Flight Entertainment
A few weeks before your trip remove a few of your baby’s toys from their collection and wrap them up in fun paper. The process of unwrapping the toy on the plane will be an activity in itself for your child and they will feel like they have a new toy at the end of it!
Bring a Sling
Each airline differs regarding the point at which you must drop off your pushchair, you may have to check it in or you can simply drop it off at the aircraft door and collect it from there after landing. Whatever the policy may be, its worth packing a baby carrier/sling/wrap in your hand luggage to offer a hands-free solution.
Playing it Safe
An anti-UV tent or playpen is a great way to keep your little ones protected from the sun whilst they play on the beach. It not only offers ample shade but will also act as a sand free spot for naps, nappy changes or snack time. Opt for a light pop-up variety that’s easy to fold and unfold.
Order & Collect at the Airport
If packing space is at a premium, then make use of the Boots Order & Collect service. Simply order all your baby essentials online five days before travel, from nappies to formula, select the airport you are flying from and collect your goods after going through security.
Ultimate Sun Protection
Shading baby from the sun is important wherever you are in the world but if you’re heading to a particularly hot spot then the iCandy Screen is an essential. The iCandy Screen features a maximum rated UPF 50 + fabric which effectively blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays, whilst the mesh is anti-glare too. The universal fitting screen can be used across the entire iCandy pushchair range and will make beach time naps a breeze.
Last but not least, don’t forget baby’s passport!
